Itinerary

DAY 1 | 29-NOV : GUWAHATI : KAZIRANGA (240 kms / 4 ½ hrs)

Meet an Alder Tour representative at Guwahati airport and transfer to Kaziranga. Evening at Leisure

Overnight at Kaziranga.

DAY 2 | 30-NOV : KAZIRANGA

​

Today we shall get to explore and see the rich wild of Kaziranga National Park. Among numerous rich wild life, Kaziranga is particularly famous for the one horned Rhino. Morning we shall go for elephant safari. Drive back to hotel. Afternoon we shall do for a jeep safari to see more wildlife in the Western /Central range of Kaziranga.

DAY 3 | 01-DEC : KAZIRANGA - KOHIMA (240 kms/8 hrs)

Today we shall transfer from the plains of Assam crossing forest and tea gardens via the commercial hub of Nagaland – Dimapur to reach Kohima, the state capital. We shall check into hotel to stay overnight at Kohima.

DAY 4 | 02-DEC : KOHIMA - HORNBILL FESTIVAL (11 kms/30 min)

​

Today after breakfast, we shall visit the Second World War Cemetery and the local market. We shall the drive to Kisama to take part in the Hornbill Festival. Hornbill festival is one of the biggest cultural festival in North East India. It is celebrated every year from December 1-10. Initially started by the government of Nagaland to promote and preserve the unique and diverse culture of the Nagas. It is a time when all the different tribes come and celebrate the festival and exhibits their attires and dress, songs and dances, cuisines, cultures and tradition.

Evening drive to Kohima for overnight stay.

DAY 5 | 03-DEC : KOHIMA – KHONOMA - HORNBILL FESTIVAL

Today after breakfast, we shall drive to Khonoma village [20 kms/1 hr] – The first green village in India. Khonoma is a place to see nature, culture and history. At Khonoma get to see the morungs – the traditional institution of the local people. Visit the British Memorial and the tomb of Mr G. H. Damant, the first political officer to the Nagas who was killed in an encounter while fighting with the warriors of Khonoma. We shall also drive to the jhum cultivation area and get to see how Khonoma practice on of the most sustainable way of doing jhum cultivation. We shall also visit age group houses, sitting places. Picnic Lunch at Khonoma. Post lunch drive back to Kisama to take part in the hornbill festival. Visit the different tribe morungs and meet and interact with them.


Drive back to Kohima for overnight stay.

DAY 6 | 04-DEC : KOHIMA – DIMAPUR – FLYOUT (74 KMS/2½ HRS)

Today after breakfast, we shall drive back to Dimapur Airport to connect flight for onward destination
