SIGNIFICANCE OF AOLENG FESTIVAL
It is a time to enjoy after the seed-sowing phase. Pound, chop and brew rice, meat and beer. Add fishing, hunting and sports to singing, dancing and feasting adorned with the best costumes, ornaments and trophies from the battle-past. With true total devotion, rituals and prayers to deities Youngwan and Kahshih for good health, harvest, safety and progeny. Being a part of it you will have the perfect recipe for Aoleng Monyu, the most important festival of the Konyaks.

Itinerary

DAY 1. DIBRUGAR- SIBSAGAR 77KM/2HRS

Meet a representative at Dibrugar airport and surface transfer to Sibsagar. Evening explore town and temples.

Overnight. Hotel

DAY 2. SIBSAGAR- MON 120 KM/5-6HRS

Today drive to Mon, the homedown of the Konyak Naga tribes with packed lunch. Enroute visit Mon village.

Overnight. Paying Guest House.

DAY 3. MON

Today we shall joint Aoleng festival.

Overnight Paying Guest House.

DAY 4. MON

Morning visit explore town/local market. Participate in the festival. Once the programme is over for the day we shall explore Chui village.

DAY 5. MON

Today we shall explore some Konyak villages like Lungwa village 42km/1½hrs, which stands on the international border of Maymmar and India. The most interesting feature of this village is that the boundary line divides the Anhg’s house to Maymmar and India therefore, the Angh eat in Nagaland and sleep in Maymmer side of his building. We shall enter the Angh house see his wealth being given to him by his subject villages, meet tattooed old people(which depends on one’s luck and many a time we need to give them some money to photo them). Next visit Sheangkhachingnyu village.

DAY 6. MON- DIBRUGARH

Morning after breakfast drive to Dibrugar

Overnight Dibrugar. Hotel

DAY 7. DIBRUGARH - AIRPORT - FLY OUT

Today drive to Dibrugarh airport to connect your flight for onward destination.
