Tawang Tour

Day 1: Guwahati - Nameri (5 hrs)

​

Meet your guide and car at airport, after briefing surface transfer to Nameri National Park. Depending on the time of you shall explore Assam village (near by) or take a walk toward the river.

 

Day 2: Nameri – Tenga (5 hrs)

​

Morning we shall leisurely drive towards Tenga. Enroute we shall visit Bongun village, waterfalls, orchid, etc.

 

Day 3: Tenga - Dirang (2 hrs)

​

Early morning drive to Thembang village. Thembang is inhabitat by Monpa tribe of Arunachal Pradesh and follows Mahayana sect Buddhism. The village has been nominated tentatively as UNESCO World Heritage site. Later we shall leisurely drive towards Dirang.

NB: - It will become a full day affair with the stoppage and village visit!

Day 4: Dirang - Tawang (7 hrs)

​

Today we shall drive on hairpin bend narrow road, stop at Sala Pass, Jaswant Garh, etc.

Day 5: Tawang

​

Today after breakfast we will go for a full excursion in Tawang and in and around, we will visit the Sangetsar Lake (also known as Madhuri Lake), PTso Lake, Tawang War Memorial, Urgelling Monastery, Ani Gompa and if time permits we will visit a hot spring. Evening back to Tawang and overnight stay.

Enjoy local sightseeing of Tawang. Visit Tawang Gonpa, the largest monastery in India and the main attraction of Tawang. Also visit Brahmadung Anni Gonpa nunnery, Urgelling Gompa and the beautiful Khinmey Gonpa. One can also see the Crafts Centre and emporium to buy souvenirs and handicrafts directly from the artisans. If time permits, visit Tawang War Memorial

 

Day 6: Day trip Bum La / Zemithang

​

Go on a long day trip towards Bum-La pass (3 hrs) and China border to enjoy the landscape views and the high altitude lakes such as Tsongatser lake (popularly known as Madhuri lake), PT lake and other viewpoints. Return by sunset.

Go on a day tour from Tawang towards Bhutan to ZEMITHANG (3 hrs), a scenic Himalayan village of Monpa tribe located at the valley of Namgyang River. Enjoy the view of the mountains of Bhutan. One can still see the villagers dressed in their traditional attire and dwelling in stone houses. Also visit the large Gorsam Stupa, which resembles like the colossal Boudhanath stupa of Nepal. One the way back, one can also visit orphanages run by the monks.

 

Day 7: Tawang - Bomdila (8 hrs)

Travel downhill towards Bomdila. Later, visit the large GRL monastery of Bomdila.

Your stay will be in a family run guesthouse near monastery. OR Hotel

 

Day 8 : Bomdila

​

After breakfast we shall leisurely take a scenic walk up to Rigzin Woeseling Monastery. This short trek lasts 40 minutes and requires some physical stamina. Take in stunning panoramic views of Bomdila town and the surrounding valleys on the way. Experience traditional Moo (fortune telling).

Later visit market in Bomdila where we get the aroma of cheese, and visit shop for colorful woven baskets, bags and traditional hand-loomed satchels.

Drive to Sang-Ngag Choekar Dargyeling Monastery, more commonly known as Chilipam Gompa, located approx. 28 kilometers away in Rupa. Take your time to marvel at and photograph the stunning alpine scenery.

 

Day 9: Bomdila - Bhalukpong (5 hrs)

​

Today we shall leisurely drive further down to Bhalukpong, for overnight stay. 

NB:- As today is a repeat drive we may not have any particular things to see but if there is anything we happen to leave on the previous days we shall try to cover!!

 

Day 10: Bhalukpong – Guwahati (7/8 hrs)

​

Today we shall drive to Guwahati for your onward journey
